While living in Istanbul I had an oppurtinuty to work in an Bristish Feature film, Will, directed by awarding winner Ellen Perry (http://www.imdb.com/name/nm1788079/) , The film is about an orphan journeys across Europe to the 2005 Champions League Final in Istanbul.

"Will" was filmed in various cities all around Europe. I myself only worked in Istanbul. In This film I worked as a Prop Assistant mostly making props like banners, flags and also roles of fabric. I worked in this project around 3 weeks. During these weeks we dressed a street into a fabric district pretending it is somewhere in France and also we dressed some part of the Atatürk Stadium.

While in New York I have also finished a short film, Even So, directed by award winner Caran Hartsfield (http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0367215/), the film is about a young Black man attempting to deal with the issues of society while showing love for a woman.

In this film I was the set dresser, I also made some of the props. Working with Production Designer Sia Balabanova (http://www.imdb.com/name/nm2759575/)was also a great opportunity for me.

In New York I also had a chance to develop skills in stop-motion. I worked 3 months at Charged Studios, a Brooklyn based animation studio with experienced stop-motion animators and a whole film crew. While working at Charged Studios I also had a chance to be apart of the set design crew in a animation film called Creamen. Creamen was directed and produced by Esther Casas.

In this story, shown to us through the remarkable visual landscape of stop-motion animation technique, our favorite ice cream flavors, Vanilla, Strawberry, Chocolate Chip, and Banana, are transformed into irreverent personalities from different nations and regions of the world, each of which holding closely to their views on this most urgent of environmental crisis.

This old gas station is the place that i had designed into a stage for 1984.

This is the drawing of the stage for 1984. As you can see I have done lots of changes to make the old gas station look like a stage. Rail system for the audience, lighting bridge, panels...

1984 "Stage Design" Costume Drawings 2008

Winston Smith, the novel's protagonist, is staunchly against the Party. He finds unobtrusive methods to rebel, or at least he believes them to go unnoticed. He main desire is to remain human under inhuman circumstances.

The Thought Police are the secret police of Oceania the novel 1984. It is the job of the Thought Police to uncover and punish thoughtcrime and thought-criminals, using psychology and omnipresent surveillance from telescreens to find and eliminate members of society who were capable of the mere thought of challenging ruling authority. The government attempts to control not only the speech and actions, but also the thoughts of its subjects, labeling unapproved thoughts with the term thoughtcrime, or, in Newspeak, crimethink. It was the thought police that had arrested Winston and Julia.

Winston's love-interest and ally. Julia also works in the Ministry of Truth. She is against the Party's doctrines, but she merely wants to break the rules, not change the society.

A Newspeak expert who works with Winston in the Ministry of Truth and is vaporized later on.

Member of the Inner Party. A mysterious figure, OBrien is at once Winston's enemy and his ally and this is the reason for Winston's ultimate indoctrination to the Party. O'Brien is a personification of the Party' and much of the Party's doctrine is revealed through him.

O'Briens servant.

Owner of the shop where Winston rents the room and a member of the Thought Police.

The Parsons are Winston's neighbors. Tom Parsons who ends up (both tortured) in the Ministry of Love with Winston, turned in by his own children.

This is the room which Winston and Julia had rented from Mr.Charrington. With yellow lighting from the window, the room seems as if sunshine is coming in.

In this picture, the lighting is designed as if it is night time in the area.

As you can see all of the rooms are open, but while preforming the play we can close whichever room we want, with a door attached to top of the wall. There is also a stand with a rail system so that the audience can see each act from a different location.

Preparing the model.

This is a stage design I made at school in 2007. In this design, I used professional theatre techniques in designing the ship into a stage. The smaller ship, I converted to become area for the audience. In Shakespeare's play 'The Tempest', the plot is based on a island, however, in my design I changed the plot's area into a ship instead of an island.

The audience has a chance to view each act from the smaller ship. wherever the act takes place, the audience ship moves to that location.
