1984 "Stage Design" Model 2008

A view of the model with it's lights on.

Winston Smith's room.

The office where Winston works.

O'Briens office.

This is the room which Winston and Julia had rented from Mr.Charrington. With yellow lighting from the window, the room seems as if sunshine is coming in.

In this picture, the lighting is designed as if it is night time in the area.

Mr. Charrington's antique shop.

A view of the model.

As you can see all of the rooms are open, but while preforming the play we can close whichever room we want, with a door attached to top of the wall. There is also a stand with a rail system so that the audience can see each act from a different location.

In this pictue all of the rooms are closed with these doors.

Wall details.

A side view of the model. Detail.

In this picture we can see a Thought Police next to a standing platform where Winston will be tortured. Detail.

This is the costume I had designed and made for Winston Smith. Winston, the novel's protagonist, is staunchly against the Party.

I have chosen George Orwell's dystopia "1984" for my thesis.
